For Mac · lives in your notch

Say it. It's written.

Dictate into any app, ask a question, take a note, or tell your Mac what to do. All from the notch, and your voice never leaves the building.

How it works

Any app. One key. Talk.

If there's a cursor, Bolo can write there. Watch it make the rounds.

Dictate

Hold fn and talk. Let go, and it's written in Slack.

Not a fn person? fn works too. Pick any key, or any combination.

Speed

Say a paragraph while you'd type a sentence.

Same email, same moment. One person types it. The other has already hit send.

Stanford researchers found speech about 3× faster than typing on a phone (Ruan et al., 2016). Speeds shown are typical averages.

Cleanup

Talk the way you think.

Change your mind, ramble, start over. Bolo writes what you meant and quietly forgets the “um”.

You say

Every example is real output from Bolo's rules. Want paragraphs and tidier lists on top? Full clean-up runs on your Mac with Apple Intelligence.

Selection

Select anything. Say what you need.

Reply to it, summarise it, change its tone, translate it. With Apple Intelligence it runs on your Mac with no key at all, and nothing is replaced until you say so.

Write for the app

Same words. Better manners.

Bolo knows where you're typing. Say it once, and it arrives as an email in Gmail, a message in Slack, and plain notes in Notion.

Casual
As spoken

Email and chat styles run on your Mac. Want it “more professional” or “more concise”? Those ask your AI, and only if you pick them.

Hey Bolo

Say what you want done.

Start with “Hey Bolo” and it does the thing instead of typing it. Rather call it something else, or hold a key and skip the pleasantries? Both are yours to set.

Screenshots“take a screenshot”, “screenshot this window”
Windows“minimize this”, “make it full screen”
Apps and web“open Notion”, “search for flights to Goa”
Typing“press enter”, “undo that”, “select all”
Music and sound“pause the music”, “volume up”
Your Mac“lock the screen”, “turn off the display”
ShortcutsSay any shortcut's name, like “focus for 25 minutes”

No AI guessing. Say “quit Slack” and only Slack quits, however tempting the alternatives. Nothing deletes files and nothing shuts down.

Languages

Speak any language. Type in yours.

English and 24 European languages work from the start. Add Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more, and Bolo hears which one you're speaking. Turn on Translate as you speak, and it types in the language you choose.

Translation runs on your Mac with the language packs built into macOS. A few languages, like Tamil and Bengali, aren't covered yet.

Privacy

Your voice never leaves your Mac.

Speech, cleanup, commands and translation all happen right here. No account, no analytics, nobody listening in. Including us.

Why Bolo

Bolo moved into your notch. Eight apps moved out.

That strip of screen your camera was hogging anyway? It now dictates, answers, takes notes, translates, runs your Mac, holds files and flips your scroll wheel.

Rent for the notch: $0. Apps uninstalled: up to eight. Dock: noticeably calmer.

What does it cost?

Nothing for the first 1,000 copies. After that, Bolo is a small one-time payment, never a subscription. Speech is recognised on your Mac, so there's nothing running up a monthly bill, and there's no word limit.

Does Bolo listen all the time?

No. The microphone is on only while you hold the key, or while hands-free is on, and nothing listens in the background. “Hey Bolo” only counts at the start of a dictation.

Do I need an AI key?

No. With Apple Intelligence turned on, Ask, rewrites, replies and clean-up run on your Mac without one. A key adds fuller answers from the live web, and a free Google AI Studio key is enough.

Why does it ask for Accessibility access?

macOS requires it before any app can type into another app. Bolo uses it to put your words at the cursor and to carry out commands.

What do I need?

A Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 26 or later. The speech model is a one-time download of 220 to 630 MB, depending on the one you pick.

Give your keyboard the day off.

The first 1,000 copies are free. Leave your email and we'll send yours.
